Three teaching research articles in this issue focus on the theme that internet-based technology can improve student learning. Two articles (GeoGebra software to Teach and Learn Circle Geometry: Academic Achievement of Grade 11 Students) and (Effective Instruction for Calculus Learning Outcomes Through Blending Co-operative Learning and GeoGebra) both employ a traditional control-experimental group method with statistical analysis to demonstrate that internet-based technology (GeoGebra) can improve student performance and concept development. The first article (GeoGebra…) focuses on concept development through the visual images produced by internet technology while the second (Effective Instruction…) focuses on the use of such technology in promoting student engagement and participation through transitioning teacher-led discourse to a blended learning environment. The third article (Using a discussion forum to encourage writing in a differential equation class) also employs internet technology, and discussion forums in a course management system to enhance student learning, in this case through one’s own written mathematics as well as comments on others’ posts. The analysis was statistical as well as qualitative.

Three teaching research articles have as a theme the use of intuitive thinking as a foundation for more formal structural thought. Two articles (The Learning Trajectory of Entrepreneurship Arithmetic Content using a Traditional Market) and (Introducing Probability Theory through Heuristics: A Laboratory for High School Students) employ real-life situations. The first article uses money transactions to learn concepts such as profit, and percentage, while the second uses dice, cards, etc. to learn probability concepts. The third article (How are fortuity mathematical movements of mosquitoes represented in children’s drawings?) with young children, is founded upon Bruner’s three phases: Enactive – Iconic – Symbolic. The children learn the concept of randomness through enactment- random walking, verbalization-discussion, and symbolic drawings.

Two research articles in this issue do qualitative studies of teachers’ aptitude for internet-based technology during the pandemic. The article (Exploring the Impact of Technology-Integrated Mathematics Worksheet in the Teaching and Learning during Covid-19 Pandemic) reviews a teacher development workshop on the internet-based software DESMOS which is used to make real-life situations come alive during online problem-solving. The article (Rural Secondary Teachers’ Readiness to Teach Online in The Pandemic Era: A Case Study) documents (survey-interview) the struggles teachers in rural Malaysia experienced getting students to attend and turn in homework.

Two articles in this issue deal with how subjects such as Natural Science and Social Science can improve quantitative and probabilistic reasoning in mathematics. The article (Quantitative Reasoning Across Campus) reports on a college-wide effort to implement mathematics across the curriculum. The other article (What Learning Opportunities does the Chilean Primary Education Curriculum Offer to Train in Sustainability?) reported on how global efforts to promote sustainability learning objectives were being implemented in Chile.
